Came to us

December 2025

Available at our kennels based in Penkridge. Meet Mika! We are looking for a very specific foster home for Mika: a quiet, calm environment with one or more confident, friendly resident dogs, space to live at a distance from people at first, a secure garden or outdoor space, and someone willing to let Mika set the pace and work with our behaviour support. If this sounds like you, please read on. Mika urgently needs your help. Mika was rescued from a kill shelter as a young puppy. When he arrived in the UK in February 2025, he was terrified of people and completely shut down. He loves other dogs, relaxes around them, plays gently, and is beginning to show curiosity in free work and toys. However, being close to people, being indoors, and anything involving barriers is very stressful for him. He has made small steps with behaviour support, but kennels are simply too much for him. He previously tried a foster home with resident dogs, but living so close to people caused his stress to spiral, and after two months he had to return. Since then, we have given him a quiet space, limited handlers, lots of dog time, and regular free work sessions. Even with all this, kennel life is still overwhelming. Every time his dog friends are adopted, he regresses. He needs something we cannot provide. What Mika needs now is a home that expects nothing from him until he is ready, calm, confident dogs to help him feel safe, plenty of space and choice, a predictable, low-pressure routine, and someone patient and committed to slow, supported progress. Mika is a sweet, sensitive boy who desperately needs the right environment to feel safe and begin to heal.
